{"id":109,"date":"2007-03-13T11:12:38","date_gmt":"2007-03-13T11:12:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dgen.net\/blog\/index.php\/2007\/03\/13\/co2-reductions-become-a-legal-requirement\/"},"modified":"2007-03-13T11:13:43","modified_gmt":"2007-03-13T11:13:43","slug":"co2-reductions-become-a-legal-requirement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dgen.net\/0\/2007\/03\/13\/co2-reductions-become-a-legal-requirement\/","title":{"rendered":"co2 reductions become a legal requirement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is a huge step forward.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;The government has unveiled plans to set a &#8220;legally binding&#8221; target to cut carbon emissions by 60% by 2050.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Plans include:<\/p>\n<p># Targets to reduce carbon emissions by 60% by 2050 and between 26% and 32% by 2020<\/p>\n<p># Greater energy efficiency, with more consumers becoming &#8220;producers&#8221; of their own energy at home<\/p>\n<p># Investment in low-carbon fuels and technologies, such as carbon capture and storage, wind, wave and solar power<\/p>\n<p># Carbon &#8220;budgets&#8221; &#8211; which cap emissions levels &#8211; set every five years<\/p>\n<p># The government reporting annually to Parliament on its progress in controlling emissions<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Aviation represents 5%, so aviation is important but it&#8217;s one fifth as important for this big problem as domestic emissions.&#8221; .
