{"id":175,"date":"2008-02-27T14:40:08","date_gmt":"2008-02-27T14:40:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dgen.net\/blog\/index.php\/2008\/02\/27\/ci-shortlisted-for-distributor-of-the-year\/"},"modified":"2008-02-27T19:28:18","modified_gmt":"2008-02-27T19:28:18","slug":"ci-shortlisted-for-distributor-of-the-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dgen.net\/0\/2008\/02\/27\/ci-shortlisted-for-distributor-of-the-year\/","title":{"rendered":"CI shortlisted for &#8220;Distributor of the Year&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicweek.com\/story.asp?sectioncode=1&amp;storycode=1033302&amp;c=1\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dgen.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/02\/musicweekawards.png\" alt=\"Music Week Awards\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ci-info.com\">CI<\/a> (of which I&#8217;m a Director) has been shortlisted for the Music Week Award &#8220;Distributor of the Year&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a giant shift in perception that we&#8217;re even being considered, and certainly the fact we delivered ~20% of Amazon&#8217;s  US download store is a catalyst.<\/p>\n<p>CI&#8217;s digital distribution service model \/has set\/continues to set\/ standards in how with digital products and web services can work together. CI takes no fees from retailers, and no % of sales (think &#8220;DHL for digital products&#8221;).<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s mission is &#8220;enable access to markets&#8221; by providing easy routes for any rights-owner to distribute to any retailer (160 at last count, including iTunes, mobile operators, China, Korea, etc&#8230;). CI&#8217;s clients are all in the independent sector, and represent over 2 million tracks. We also have a rather good <a href=\"\/blog\/index.php\/2006\/02\/24\/ci-turns-it-up\/\">jukebox<\/a> in our office.<\/p>\n<p>To be listed up against Universal and EMI (and Pinnacle is one of CI&#8217;s clients) is indicative of the shift in the balance of &#8220;power&#8221; in the music industry.<\/p>\n<p>Fingers crossed!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CI (of which I&#8217;m a Director) has been shortlisted for the Music Week Award &#8220;Distributor of the Year&#8221;.
