Why?<\/li>\n<li>What friction does using a blockchain remove from a system? What friction does it add?<\/li>\n<li>What value does it really add?<\/li>\n<li>What human challenges are still present when you apply a blockchain to this issue?<\/li>\n<li>Is the &#8216;trust issue&#8217; one that is really going away with the application of a technology?<\/li>\n<li>What would happen if I asked you to &#8220;Use email to solve X&#8221;?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>How would you feel, instead, asking your team\/managers\/shareholders\/board:<\/p>\n<div class=\"js-tweet-text-container\">\n<p class=\"TweetTextSize TweetTextSize--jumbo js-tweet-text tweet-text\" lang=\"en\" data-aria-label-part=\"0\">&#8220;Does a permanent public contract help this situation?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" data-aria-label-part=\"0\">&#8220;Should we build a permanent, immutable and public database of transactions for this?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" data-aria-label-part=\"0\">It&#8217;s the known-known that in all tech hype cycles people seem to run around with the new tech hammer looking for nails. This is usually quite a short cycle, but blockchain has seemed highly resistant to being treated as a another tool in the bag. Probably because it&#8217;s a catchy name.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Further, are we:<\/p>\n<div class=\"js-tweet-text-container\">\n<ol>\n<li class=\"TweetTextSize TweetTextSize--jumbo js-tweet-text tweet-text\" lang=\"en\" data-aria-label-part=\"0\">undermining second hand markets by &#8216;unleashing DRM&#8217; on everything?<\/li>\n<li class=\"TweetTextSize TweetTextSize--jumbo js-tweet-text tweet-text\" lang=\"en\" data-aria-label-part=\"0\">destroying of the grey economy (if\/when crypto becomes regulated)?<\/li>\n<li lang=\"en\" data-aria-label-part=\"0\">creating an accidental new \u2018mainframe\u2019 that gets embedded in a way we can\u2019t unpick for decades\u2026\u00a0 like the mainframes in banking that we built (for good reasons) 30-40 years ago?<\/li>\n<li class=\"TweetTextSize TweetTextSize--jumbo js-tweet-text tweet-text\" lang=\"en\" data-aria-label-part=\"0\">creating a new risk that immutable [transaction] data will lead to recombination of personal data?<br \/>\n(nb: some people tell me that, for example, their chain only contains pointers to data elsewhere.
